A Glass of SuSu a Day Keeps The Doc Away

Travel the windy road into the muddled mind of a psychology graduate student in the day, reality show addict in my spare time and an alcohol junkie in the night. :) I am a confused pessismistic soul waiting for enlightenment, an asian feminist at heart and a travel journalist in my dreams.

I've been thinking...

How do you know if what you have is friendship in its true meaning, or just hangout buddies?

Do you consider someone you hit the bars with every Friday night a friend?
Or someone you don't see and talk for most of the year, but spent time together in the summer holidays?
How about someone who puts you down everytime you talk to him/her but you still try to talk in hopes that eventually he/she will get tired of it?
Your housemates?
Someone whom you spend alot of time with but you don't feel comfortable with?

I know people change, but could they give me the orange light first before turning to red? Sigh...

This song is great for a post-night out, when you reach home in the wee hours of the morn. :) Thanks Chia for recommending it!

Backwoods Men

Here are some of the answers given by 4 randomly chosen men to the question "What do you envy most about married men?" posed by Cleo Magazine:

That they are more stable financially, and can focus on their job as all the necessities are taken care off - Mr. B. Ibrahim, 19

They have someone to share everything with. They have a wife who can cook and do the laundry - Mr. B. Bakhri, 20

That they've someone who'll care for them when they fall sick and love them no matter how ugly they look - Mr. Subramaniam. 31

Their lives are taken care of by their wives. It also seems they are happier, more matured and rational - Mr. Chai, 21

Now why do I find something inherently wrong in their comments? Hmm...let me see...is it just me or hasn't the world progressed in terms of equality between the sexes? I have just the answers to slap them back with...

Mr B Ibrahim, men marry only after they become financially stable. Being married doesn't make them suddenly rich! And who's the one that'll be taking care of all the necessities? Your nanny?

Mr B Bakhri, your maid can also do the cooking and laundry. Will you dispose off your wife once you get a maid?

Mr Subramaniam, Kudos! One of the better answers...yet do you really marry only to get security from being considered ugly?

Mr Chai, what do you mean by their lives are taken care of by their wives? Do you mean wash your undies, feed you, go to work for you, brush your teeth for you? *rolls my eyes*

Where did CLEO find these boys? Honestly!

PS: One of the first trance songs I listened to that I liked! Brings back memories of my first ever Chicago trip with Dawn, Marcus, Chia etc. Oh the constant replaying of this song in our rented mobile coffin (PT Cruiser)!

Developed nation by 2020? I don't think so.

I thought we were pass overt racism and have moved on to the subtler versions -- but I guess not. It's so surprising to hear about the recent act of bully by 50 Malay students against 7 Chinese fellow students at UPM is saddening, but to watch it in action is shocking. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, take a look at TheStarOnline.

It's ridiculous to think that a deputy vice-chancellor of UPM blames this incident on pumping adrenalines after a rugby game. If that's excusable, I guess it would be alright for anyone after a tennis game or a football match to go charging against the first person they see like a bull seeing red. Kudos to the person who acted quick enough to capture this incident!

I wonder what the government's next steps would be? Take some serious action against the wrong-doers and maybe look at the bigger picture of racial harmony or is this going to be a repeat of the prison guards' bullying incident?

Tranceism

I used to hate trance. The loud bass thumping persistently, nonstop was SO annoying. I mean who in the world likes monotonous consistent beats without any vocals? And what's more, I had Darling, MG, James and Sean bobbing their heads along to Tiesto, Armin, etc almost every night during dinner! URGH. I couldn't get how Chia could listen to trance while studying -- I could hear the bass even with his headphones on. But how funny and ironic is it that I'm missing trance now when I'm in Penang. I think all the rave parties I've been dragged to is finally working. I'm a convert! Not really the hard-core trance lover yet, but I'm starting on vocal trance. :) I think the video below should be a good start for all trance beginners. It's Andain-Beautiful Things :)

PS: I'm dead-set on converting you CK!

22 is bittersweet

I can't believe I've been out of high school for almost 5 years! It's 5 YEARS since I last wore my Rangers uniform, since I wrote on a Buku Latihan, 5 years since I lined up in an assembly hall, since I washed my school shoes and painted it white, and 5 years since I attended tuition classes. Aah...those were the days. Everything was clear and simple - straightforward. If you do your homework, attend tuition classes and study, you'll pass with flying colours.

I still remember how Mrs. Tan a.k.a. katod used to torture us with her version of "hangman" - what's another word for deep? starts with p ends with d has 9 letters bla bla. And how she would yell at us all if we didn't have our English dictionary at the upper corner of our table ready to be whipped open whenever she commands. Oh god...it sounds so funny now how we'd obey like a pack of donkeys! hahaha And Miss Ang! Where should I begin? How she'd go on and on about the cheesecakes she'd received in the past from 5 Science 1s. *rolling my eyes* Good old times...good old times. :)

PS: Ck, Jess, Seong Hong, May -- you guys reminded me yesterday of how innocent and blissful high school was! Going to class, going to tuition, paying attention or NOT paying attention, ogling girls or boys in tuition centers, lepaking during PJ, worrying about the next test or homework or camp...Aaah wished sometimes I didn't have to grow up! :)

Anddd I'll conclude my old lady's nagging with a dose of really cool trance from deep dish...

Can your brain rot due to boredom?

To prove to you how bored I really am I'll admit this -- I'm rereading Harry Potter The Order of the Phoenix again right after I've read the whole book and also Harry Potter The Half-Blood Prince since I got back.

Seriously, the government should work on making books more available for the wider public. And I'm talking not only about the availability but also the variety of books. I've tried looking for Marian Keyes and Sophie Kinsella in our Penang public library to no avail. Thus, I'm taking a guess that they won't have The Last Templar nor I am Charlotte Simmons. I'm not really into books that are the profound and life-reflecting sort but those that are good for an afternoon at home while sipping coffee. Buying books is of course out of the question since one costs like 35 ringgit on average. How can I, an unemployed whose butt is glued to the couch everyday fork out that much every week? :P sigh

I can't wait to fly back to US and explore my new town's public library. West Lafayette's (home to Purdue University) library was awesome! Double-story building with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, carpeted reading rooms with big, comfy couches, Macintosh for anyone's usage and clean bathrooms. They even have DVDs! Sigh...I need a new activity. Suggestions?

Minus One Kaki

Bye Yi JUn!! Have a safe trip back all the way to "Palmy" (is that how you spell it?)! Just promise me one thing -- continue being as crazy as you are. Haha. I'll be missing one partner in crime roaming the night scenes. And this song below is dedicated to you...(reminds me of you keke)

PS: Sorry but the video isn't 0ut yet! :)

PPS: Glo's DJ really should start playing some newer songs and once and for all, learn how to mix. *rolling my eyes*

Moving House

Welcome to my new blog! I've decided to change it to blogspot because it looks fun to try a different host for a while and for many other numerous minute reasons. So all those of you who do link to my blog, please change the URL to suchuen.blogspot.com! Ooohh now I'm really trying to learn how to rearrange my blog's template from scratch. So be patient yea!

Oh by the way, I might sound like some pompous arrogant ass to call myself princess susu but I don't care! Susu is used because my old ancient friends used to call me susu and princess susu because it sounds cute. Not that I think of myself as royalty. You'll know if you continue reading my blog that I'm actually very very down-to-earth. :)
